Manhunt
I just finished reading this book and I must say it was pretty badass. I'm no history buff so I'll admit that I knew just the facts about John Wilkes Booth and the assassination of President Lincoln. What I learned in reading this book really got me interested in the entire event, so much so that I've been online researching just to get more questions answered. Because the author draws from so many resources ( the bibliography itself is like 40 pages) the whole book reads like a police report. Using eye witness accounts, court testimonies, police reports, and Booth's own journal you follow the story practically day by day hour by hour. I also learned that this book is going to be made into a movie with Harrison Ford already signed up to play Sgt. Conger. It'll probably be a pretty good flick because it reads like a movie. On one hand you read a few paragraphs on Booth trying to escape after the shot and then a few on the audience going apeshit at Ford's theater and then later on Lincoln's final hours. Anyways I'm just saying it's a good book about a real historical event that literally shook the nation. If Booth and his conspirators (yes there was a conspiracy with 4 men assigned an assassination of their own) had succeeded then all of the heads of the U.S. government would have been killed giving the south the edge they needed to rally after the loss at Richmond and basically take over the entire country. To me that's pretty cool. If you need a good read I suggest it.

Like it or Not
Well like it or not Barry broke 755. Is he on roids? Hell I dunno. But I will continue to say that he is the best player of my generation...so far. Or at least until proven guilty. So the actual moment wasn't that magical. I remember watching Pete Rose break the hitting record with my dad, that was history, that was a moment. Bonds homer was just another stat to me, another headline I skimmed past on the internet before going to work. Does he deserve it? yes, somebody hit all those bombs and until they prove otherwise I'm sure it's a record that will last at least 10 years until Pujols breaks it.
